Late Rally Falls Short as Lions Drop Series Opener to San Diego
SAN DIEGO, Calif. - LMU softball dropped the opening game of their West Coast Conference series against San Diego on Thursday evening, falling 6-3 at Reggie Smith Softball Complex. The Lions (23-14, 1-3 WCC) were held scoreless through the first five innings before mounting a late push, but a six-run third inning by the Toreros proved to be the difference. LMU threatened early, putting runners on in multiple innings, including a leadoff single and stolen base from Avery Francis in the first.
