Flames sign defenceman Axel Hurtig to entry-level contract
The Calgary Flames have inked one of their 2023 draftees to a contract. The club announced Wednesday that defenceman Axel Hurtig had signed a three-year, entry-level contract with an average annual value of $990,000. Hurtig, a 20-year-old Swede, is the captain of the WHL鈥檚 Calgary Hitmen. During the 2025-26 regular season, he posted a career-best 19 points (six goals and 13 assists) in 64 games.
