VENICE — A few days removed from the NHSI tournament, the Venice baseball team hoped to avoid a second straight loss back on its home turf on Tuesday. The Indians went 3-1 in North Carolina, losing to Orange Lutheran by a run in the championship game on Saturday. It was Venice’s first loss of the season, and while it’s disappointing not to bring home another trophy, the team beat a couple of marquee opponents and broke the program record for longest winning streak during the event.
