LOWELL, Mass. – Freshman Alessandra Forgione (Peabody, Mass.) of the UMass Lowell women’s outdoor track and field team and Jan Wouter van den Akker (Groningen, Netherlands) of the men’s team each earned America East Weekly Awards, as announced by the conference on Tuesday afternoon. Forgione was named Female Field Athlete of the Week, while van den Akker earned Male Track Athlete of the Week honors.
