Atkins lands MIAA Track Athlete of the Week honors
Northwest Missouri State University distance runner Drew Atkins captured the MIAA Men's Track Athlete of the Week honor. Atkins, a senior from Kansas, Mo., captured the 5,000-meter crown with a Division II provisional time of 13:40.86 at the WashU Distance Carnival in St. Louis, Mo. Atkins time broke the school record in the men's 5,000-meter run, broke the Francis Stadium facility record, and set a new personal best. His time of 13:40.86 ranks as the No. 1 mark in the nation.
