Newell Named AMCC Player of the Week
LATROBE, Pa. 鈥� Penn State Altoona junior Jackson Newell (Leechburg, PA/Kiski Area) was announced as the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference’s Player of the Week in men’s tennis on Monday afternoon. Newell won both of his singles and doubles matches on Sunday, March 29, when the Penn State Altoona men’s tennis team swept AMCC opponent Pitt-Greensburg in a doubleheader at home. In the Lions’ first match against the Bobcats, Newell prevailed by a 6-1, 6-1 decision in No. 3 singles while teaming up with Kody Cessna (Apollo, PA/Kiski Area) for a 6-0 win together in No. 3 doubles.
