Fernandez Named CCIW Softball Pitcher of the Week
NAPERVILLE – Anais Fernandez of the Carthage softball team has been named the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) Softball Pitcher of the Week, the conference announced Monday. Fernandez, a sophomore from Galewood, Ill., pitched a complete game in the Firebirds 6-2 victory over No. 15 Wis-Whitewater on Saturday afternoon at Wiers Family Stadium. Fernandez allowed two earned runs in the seventh inning, while holding the Warhawks to one extra base hit and struck out one batter.
