Winfield, Mathenge Lead Spartans at Bill Carson Invitational
GREENVILLE, N.C. — Norfolk State men’s track standouts Kendrick Winfield and Daniel Mathenge each captured first-place finishes, leading the Spartans at the Bill Carson Invitational on Friday and Saturday. Winfield posted a time of 47.59 in the 400 meters, while Mathenge won the 5,000 meters in 14:51.20. Julian Ward and Jaycob Linsey each qualified for the 100-meter finals, with Ward finishing fifth (10.56) and Linsey placing sixth (10.53).
