ST. LOUIS - IU Indianapolis men's track junior Luke Shappell capped an overall strong day of events for the Jaguars on Friday (Mar. 27), setting a new program record in the 5,000m event at the WashU. Distance Carnival. Shappell notched a time of 14:07.79, placing sixth overall and breaking the prior school record by four seconds. The Jaguars' distance ace was tracking on a sub-14 minute effort before gutting out the final mile and closing with his fastest 400 meters of the race.
