Spirit Use Big Second Inning to Lift Themselves Past Firestorm to Open Series
Surprise, Ariz.-- OUAZ Baseball opened its GSAC series against rival Arizona Christian with a strong 6-2 victory at home, improving to 25-12 overall and 11-6 in conference play. The Firestorm struck first in the second inning on a solo home run, but the Spirit quickly responded with a four-run frame of their own in the bottom half. Taking advantage of defensive miscues, OUAZ evened the score on a passed ball before Matthew Carter delivered an RBI single to give the Spirit the lead.
