Baseball Edged In Oxy Series Opener
LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The Whitman College baseball team opened its three-game California swing at Occidental with a tight 3-2 setback on Friday afternoon at Anderson Field. The loss came despite a four-hit day from Nate Petz and a strong effort on the mound from the Blues’ pitching staff. Petz supplied all of Whitman’s offense, staking the Blues to an early lead with a solo homer to left-center in the top of the first, then adding an RBI single in the third to make it 2-0.
