Guelph Gryphons mourn the loss of Men鈥檚 Hockey Student-Athlete Jacob Winterton
The Guelph Gryphons family is mourning the loss of University of Guelph student-athlete Jacob Winterton. Winterton passed away this week at the age of 25 after a courageous battle with cancer. Winterton, a dedicated student athlete and proud member of the men’s hockey program, made a lasting impact both on and off the ice throughout his four seasons with the University of Guelph (2021-22 to 2024鈥�25). A Bachelor of Commerce graduate (2025), Jacob balanced academic excellence with athletic commitment, embodying the spirit of what it means to be a Gryphon.
