Grinnell men鈥檚 tennis team loses to Mary Washington in battle of nationally-ranked squads
FREDERICKSBURG, Va. – The Grinnell College men’s tennis team dropped a 6-1 decision at Mary Washington Saturday in a battle of nationally-ranked squads. The No. 38 Pioneers got one doubles win via the No. 2 duo of Maxi Gutbezahl ’29 and Alex Doane ’28, who posted a 6-4 victory. Mary Washington, ranked 20th nationally, then won five of six singles matches. Gutbezahl was Grinnell’s singles winner, claiming a three-set victory at No. 2 by scores of 6-3, 3-6, 6-4.
