Notre Dame women鈥檚 fencing wins national championship
SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - The Notre Dame women鈥檚 fencing team won the NCAA national championship today at home, defeating Columbia 102-99 in a close finish. The Irish entered day two down by one bout to the Columbia Lions. Olympian Eszter Muhari secured the team championship for Notre Dame with a win over Columbia鈥檚 Nicole Xuan. This year鈥檚 championship introduced a format change that has not been seen in decades. Men鈥檚 and women鈥檚 teams are competing in separate, standalone team championships for the first time since 1989.
