Q&A with Philip Simmons multi-sport athlete Ethan Chisum
CHARLESTON, S.C. — Meet Ethan Chisum, a football and lacrosse player at Philip Simmons High School.

What are your personal goals within your sport/athletic dreams?
Ethan Chisum: My dream was to always play at Clemson when I was a freshman, but that dream quickly faded around sophomore year. I would definitely still like to play intramural sports or club lacrosse in College.
Do you have a pregame ritual you follow?
Chisum: No, not really. I usually just listen to music or talk to my friends before the game. We do a post practice Bana chug during Thursday Morning practices. (Bana is an electrolyte drink). My friends and I have a tradition of going to Waffle House after every game, whether we win or lose.
What has being a member of a team taught you?
Chisum: It has taught me that everyone’s part matters. Even if you don’t think your part matters, it does. Whether your role on the team is big or small, it adds up to a bigger picture, and it’s crazy what can happen if everyone works together.
What is the best piece of advice you received from a coach or mentor?
Chisum: Go out and have fun.
What do you love about your sport?
Chisum: I love getting to be nervous and excited the morning of the game, and then getting more hype before the game. I also really like getting to play with my friends, and getting to hang with people I normally wouldn’t hang out with, if not for football.
What do you like to do outside of your sport?
Chisum: I like to hang out with my friends and do whatever with them. I also like to read, play video games, Bible studies, and I’m also trying to learn how to play the guitar right now.
Anything else you鈥檇 like to share?
Chisum: If you are playing high school football or any high school sport right now, enjoy every second of it.
