Centerville HS boys lacrosse: Competing with excellence every day
DAYTON, Ohio — This season the Centerville High School varsity boys鈥 lacrosse team took on another ambitious schedule, playing six of the top 10 teams in the state of Ohio. We collected a key win against Cleveland鈥檚 Western Reserve Academy in May. We also went undefeated in Greater Western Ohio Conference (GWOC) play and collected back-to-back GWOC championships.
Out of 10 positions on the field, five underclassmen started in every regular season game. This group never backed down from a challenge, taking huge strides to scrape as high as top 12 in Ohio and top four in southern Ohio.

Three of our 2025 graduates committed to play after high school: Gavin Dalton at Lewis University (Illinois), JP Mercer at University of Albany 鈥 State University of New York and Brady Stephan at Mercyhurst University (Pennsylvania).
Thanks to generous donations from Buckeye Lawn and Landscaping | Oheil Irrigation Company and the Centerville Athletic Booster Club, we were able to install backup nets on the south end of Alumni Stadium and Legacy Field, to enhance fan safety and pace of play.

Our team really focused on living out the idea of 鈥淐ompeting with Excellence Every Day.鈥 We did this through something called boat crews, which regularly met to discuss current life events and leadership strategies. The boat crews then battled for internal team awards, given out consistently after practices and games. We also engaged in special competitions that developed a sense of belonging among all of the players.
I truly enjoy developing players and team building through rigorous competition within a supportive environment. It is supremely fulfilling to work closely with other coaches, players and families who care deeply about our mission. Whether in the classroom, on the field or at home, our young men are challenged to use lacrosse as a means to transform themselves into the best possible version of themselves.
