Bellbrook HS wrestling champ Jada Weiss throws words of wisdom
BELLBROOK, Ohio — We recently had the honor of catching up with brand new Bellbrook High School grad Jada Weiss, fresh off her 2025 Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) Wrestling Championship win! Here鈥檚 what she had to share with us.
What are your personal goals or athletic dreams within your sport?
Jada Weiss: I have already achieved some of my goals; but now that I will be in college, my goal is to place at nationals.
What is your biggest wrestling challenge, and what do you do to manage it?
Weiss: The biggest challenge is the mental aspect of wrestling. I manage this by talking a lot about mindset with my parents and coaches.
What is your biggest sports accomplishment?
Weiss: Winning state this year!
What was the best advice you were ever given?
Weiss: Every day at some point, someone is working harder than you. You have to prove them wrong.
What do you love about wrestling?
Weiss: How it is both a team and an individual sport鈥攜ou can work hard and reap the benefits of your own work, but you can also work with your team.
Do you have a pre-match ritual that you follow?
Weiss: There are lots of rituals that I do: wearing the same things, eating the same things and so on; but I always do three tuck jumps before every match.
What do you like to do outside of wrestling?
Weiss: I like working out and lifting, as well as hanging out with my friends.
What has being a member of a team taught you?
Weiss: Each person on a team serves a purpose.
What is the best piece of advice you have received from a coach or mentor?
Weiss: Have confidence in yourself and in the work that you have put in.
Describe a mistake you made while competing and how you overcame it.
Weiss: Last year I wrestled very timid and afraid at state. I overcame it by practicing my offense and moves more throughout the season.
What are your non-sports goals in life?
Weiss: I want to become an anesthesiologist and have a good family.
Where will you attend college?
Weiss: I am attending Otterbein University. I plan on majoring in biochemistry, as well as wrestling there.
