Ranking the 10 greatest New York Mets of all time
9. Pete Alonso, 1B (2019-present)
Alonso is still writing his story with the Mets, but he has already proven to be one of the best hitters in franchise history. Alonso will likely have a chance to become the Mets’ all-time home runs leader during the 2025 season, as his 232 long balls sit just 20 behind franchise record holder Darryl Strawberry. Alonso also already ranks in the top five in franchise history in RBIs, and within the top seven in slugging percentage and OPS. The seventh-year veteran has made four All-Star appearances, including three straight from 2022-24, and led the MLB with 53 home runs in 2019, earning NL Rookie of the Year honors. Alonso has had 34 or more home runs in five of his six MLB seasons to this point, and his power has led to plenty of RBIs, a statistical category that he led the the big leagues in back in 2022.
