Ranking the 10 greatest Los Angeles Angels of all time
1. Mike Trout, OF (2011-present)
Injuries have hampered Trout a bit on the back nine of his MLB career, but he remains the best player in Angels franchise history and is a sure-fire Hall of Famer once his playing days wrap up. Trout made an immediate impact as AL Rookie of the Year in 2012, a season where he also finished second in MVP voting. That year also marked the first of eight consecutive All-Star appearances for the outfielder, part of 11 All-Star nods overall. Trout collected AL MVP awards in 2014, 2016 and 2019, and has also earned nine Silver Slugger Awards and two Hank Aaron Awards. The 33-year-old from New Jersey has a career batting average near .300, and continues to raise the bar on several franchise records each time he plays as he is the Angels’ all-time leader in home runs, runs, walks, on-base percentage, slugging percentage and OPS.
