Gatens is not the most exciting candidate, but he is someone who the Hawkeyes鈥� fanbase is familiar with. He played for the program from 2009-12 and served as team captain in two of those seasons. Gatens has been an assistant under McCaffery for three seasons and would be the best internal option for Iowa.
