Craig Smith fired: 5 Utah basketball head coach candidates
Andre Miller
Hiring Miller would be far from a sure thing, but he also might be the top candidate to reinvigorate the Utes’ fan base. Miller was the WAC Player of the Year and a first-team All-American during his college career at Utah while playing under Rick Majerus. His No. 24 hangs in the rafters at the Jon M. Huntsman Center. Following his standout career in Salt Lake City, Miller spent 17 seasons playing in the NBA. In 2022, Miller began his coaching career in the NBA G League with the Grand Rapids Gold, an affiliate of the Denver Nuggets. The Gold haven’t found a lot of success under Miller, but he has gained valuable coaching experience that could have him ready for a job like this. The 48-year-old’s brand and NBA experience could also be valuable for recruiting, and he knows what it takes to be successful in Salt Lake City.
