Lidstrom has a case as the best defenseman in NHL history. The Detroit Red Wings legend won seven Norris Trophies and four Stanley Cups in his 20 seasons with the franchise. Detroit never missed the playoffs during that time. Lidstrom played until he was 41 and still placed in the top five in the voting for the league鈥檚 best defenseman award in 2011-12.
4. Martin Brodeur
Brodeur is the greatest netminder of the century and it is not up for debate. He was the best player on three Stanley Cup teams with the New Jersey Devils and won four Vezina Trophies in his 22-year career. Brodeur holds the NHL record for wins (691) and shutouts (125).
