Top 10 Big 12 basketball players midway through 2024-25 season
10. LJ Cryer, G, Houston
Houston has continued its impressive run of success in 2024-25 as the Cougars have won 20 games or more in the last nine seasons under Kelvin Sampson. The Cougars also look poised for a second consecutive Big 12 title in their second year in the league. While March success has often eluded Houston, that could change this year with a veteran-laden roster led by junior guard Emanuel Sharp, senior big man J’Wan Roberts and senior guard Cryer, who is arguably the Cougars’ most important piece. Following a trio of strong seasons at Baylor, Cryer has been Houston’s leader the past two years and is averaging 14.3 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.9 assists in 2024-25. He is also one of the Big 12’s best 3-point shooters at 40.1%. The shooting ability and experience that the 6-foot-1 guard brings is invaluable in a deep and talented Big 12.
