Cambridge swim and dive: A record-breaking season of excellence
MILTON, Ga. — This swim season has been remarkable, marked by historic wins and a unified team spirit driving record-breaking success for Cambridge High School. In December, the boys team claimed the Meet of Champions title while the girls placed third. At the recent Fulton County Championships, the girls finished as runners-up, and the boys achieved their highest-ever placement at third. Together, they earned a combined runner-up title鈥搕he best in program history鈥揳gainst tough competition from predominantly 5A and 6A schools.
The Region Championships added to the excitement, with both teams earning runner-up spots to Westminster, a state powerhouse. This success reflects the Bears program鈥檚 growth and competitive edge.
Several school records have fallen this season including the boys鈥� 200-medley and 400-free relays, and individual marks by Gavin Schoeling in the 100-breast and Amber Naude in the 50 and 100 freestyle. More records are within reach as this season progresses.
Brooklyn Petit, dive captain and Ohio State commit, continues to lead the divers with outstanding performances, aiming for a state championship and All-American title. Her leadership and the team鈥檚 six divers have provided a significant advantage in scoring.
Captains Gavin Schoeling, Jennifer Griner, and Caroline Gaines and their coaches have inspired a culture of excellence and determination for their team. Griner, the reigning state champion in the 500-freestyle, looks to defend her title and add more accolades.
The team celebrates individual and collective achievements with traditions like post-meet wrap-ups and awards for standout performances. The 鈥淚ron Bear鈥� and 鈥淏ronze Bear鈥� programs encourage athletes to push past their comfort zones. The coaching staff is dedicated to ensuring the 15 seniors on the team leave a legacy of excellence, both in the pool and academically.
The energy on the pool deck and current accomplishments of the season have set the tone for more success, Their recent wins and record-breaking performances reflect that their program is on the rise, ready to win more titles and now the team strives to add another banner to the Cambridge High School gym.
