Despite some Power 4 interest, Hughes committed to Tulane following a standout career at Huffman High School in Birmingham, Alabama, and has emerged as one of college football’s top running backs the past two seasons. The two-time first-team All-AAC standout ran for 1,378 yards and seven touchdowns in 2023 before bettering his numbers this season, racking up 1,401 rushing yards – the ninth-most among FBS running backs – and 17 total touchdowns.
The 5-foot-11, 210-pound running back is the second offensive star to enter the portal from Tulane this offseason, following quarterback Darian Mensah who recently transferred to Duke. Like Mensah, Hughes will be one of the top players available at his position and should garner significant interest with the potential to be one of the top running backs in the nation during his final two years of eligibility.
