CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Q&A with Ian Whitt who is a senior and wrestler at Ardrey Kell High School.
What are your personal goals within your sport/athletic dreams?
Ian Whitt: My personal goals are to get 100 varsity career wins and to place at the state tournament. (Possibly wrestle in college or club wrestling.)
Do you have a pregame ritual you follow?
Whitt: I like to listen to music and get into my zone. I also like warming up with the team and doing some of my own stretches.
What has being a member of a team taught you?
Whitt: It has taught me leadership skills, self-discipline and lifelong self-defense skills.
What is the best piece of advice you received from a coach or mentor?
Whitt: Best advice given was to always give 100 percent of your effort no matter if you are on or off the wrestling mat.
What do you love about your sport?
Whitt: I love all the team bonding and how this sport has helped me to get more confident and to be physically and mentally stronger on and off the wrestling mat.
What do you like to do outside of your sport?
Whitt: I like to go to the gym, go fishing, and hang out with my friends.
