Top 5 matchups for Week 11 of the 2024 college football season

5. Michigan at No. 8 Indiana – Saturday, 3:30 p.m. ET, CBS

Michigan and Indiana have a long series history as the two programs have matched up 72 times since 1900 and played annually as division opponents in the Big Ten over the past decade. However, despite the history, this hasn’t been much of a rivalry as the Wolverines have gone 62-10 against the Hoosiers and have won all but two matchups in the series since 1968.

The Hoosiers last beat the Wolverines in 2020 and may have their best chance against Michigan in decades on Saturday as two-touchdown favorites. Michigan is just 5-4 following its national championship season and has lost three of its last four contests to Washington, Illinois and Oregon. Sherrone Moore’s defense will need to play better than it did against the Ducks to have a chance in this one, but the Wolverines’ biggest challenge could be keeping up on the scoreboard with the Hoosiers as their offense ranks 127th out of 133 FBS teams, notably struggling to find consistency at the quarterback position.

Davis Warren will look to improve under center for the Wolverines in Bloomington, but that will be a challenge against an Indiana defense that ranks third in the country and allows just 261 yards per game. The Hoosiers’ defense has quietly been dominant behind Aiden Fisher and others during their 9-0 start, but the offense has been the headliner as the Hoosiers have a top-10 unit overall under Curt Cignetti, thanks in large part to talented transfer quarterback Kurtis Rourke. Playing against a Big Ten blue blood like Michigan is no easy task but could provide another big win for Indiana’s playoff resume.
