Ranking SEC teams with best College Football Playoff chances
1. Georgia Bulldogs
Georgia hasn鈥檛 looked as dominant in 2024 as it had at times during the past couple of seasons, but the Bulldogs remain in the best position for a playoff berth among SEC teams. The Dawgs have just one loss on the season, a seven-point defeat at Alabama, and are coming off an impressive road win at Texas. Georgia only has three SEC contests remaining with games at Ole Miss and at home against Tennessee likely to determine its playoff chances.聽
Winning at least one of those two matchups should be enough provided the Bulldogs take care of business against Florida, UMass and Georgia Tech. While Georgia鈥檚 offense has been somewhat inconsistent behind quarterback Carson Beck, Kirby Smart has a top-20 defense once again that will likely carry the Bulldogs to the playoff, and perhaps on another national championship run.
