Meet Blacksburg volleyball player Sullivan Shealor
BLACKSBURG, Va. — Blacksburg Bruins Varsity Volleyball team has a new face this year, freshman Sullivan Shealor. Sullivan has played volleyball for five years and also plays softball. Sullivan plays travel volleyball for Elite Force and travel softball for Virginia Phoenix.
This hard hitting newcomer has the varsity program looking forward to a season with a hopeful run for regional and state titles.
Coach Madison Webb says, 鈥淪ullivan might be the youngest person on our team, but the hardest worker. Sullivan is dedicated to her team, volleyball and softball. I not only have the privilege of being her coach, but I also get to be her teacher. Watching her in Unified PE, helping our students, has been rewarding. I get to see her work with individuals of all abilities.鈥�
Sully, her nickname on the team, loves playing with this group. Sully said, 鈥淧laying with people older than me and with such a high skill level motivates me to play at their level.鈥� Sully said that teammates, Emma Castle, Molly Nelson, and Brooke Gutter are amazing leaders. And they have a lot of fun together.
The Varsity and Junior Varsity Bruin teams eat a pre-game meal together and then watch each other’s games. They have fun cheers for each player and celebrate all points and kills as a team.
Sullivan loves the sport of volleyball and thrives on the competition. As a freshman, she will be a force for this team for years to come. 鈥淚鈥檓 my happiest self when I鈥檓 out on the court. It means everything to me to be able to play with these girls and being a part of this family.鈥�
