Park Pirates women鈥檚 golf shatter four program records with 1st place and an individual champ

PARKVILLE, Mo. — The Park University women鈥檚 golf program was more than spectacular at the William Woods Fall Invite on Tuesday. When it comes to the team record book, it was a historic tournament for the women鈥檚 golf program with four newly touted records.

The Pirates were in Fulton, Mo. at Tanglewood Golf Course where their epic play as a group unfolded. On day one, the Pirates held a six stroke lead on Columbia College with a 293.

Their round one team score was 10 strokes better than the previous record set last year at the Kansas Women鈥檚 Collegiate held in Hutchison, Mo. at Carey Park Course on September 6, 2023.

The Pirates did one better at the William Woods event in round two with a 292 for a 585 tournament score. Both of these set new team records in lowest 18-hole round and 36-hole tournament.

Park would go on to win the event by 14 strokes and were nine strokes over par as a team.

The Pirates had epic performances as a group, but the front runners for the Pirates were each three strokes under par. Anna Korsen shot scores of 72 and 69 for a 141, while her teammate Micaela Suhl set a new record for lowest 18-hole round score for an individual with a 66 (-6) on day two of the event. Suhl had a nine stroke improvement from the previous day鈥檚 score of 75 to tie Korsen at 141.

Both Korsen and Suhl broke the individual 36-hole tournament score at that pace, and Korsen was deemed the winner of the event after going to a playoff between the two teammates.

It took every member to contribute to the team鈥檚 record breaking success though, as Kim Albertus reached a new career lows for a round and a tournament with a 73 and 78 for a 151. Albertus, a Heart All-Conference performer last year, also cracked the top 10 at 9th.

Zaza Cagle and Grace Rogers were just outside of the top 10 in 15th and 16th. Cagle was one stroke off her lowest round with a 76 and 79, but had a personal best in her 36-hole score with a 155.

Rogers, in just her second Park tournament, had an impressive 73 in round one and closed her tournament with an 84 for a 157 overall.

Hannah Reynoldson represented in the tournament as an individual and shot a 187 on rounds of 94 and 93 for 40th place.

The Pirates will host the Virginia McCoy Fall Invitational at the National and the Bluffs Golf Course at the National Golf Club of Kansas City on October 7-8.
