Dream big: Saint John Bosco football player Maddux Sorenson
BELLFLOWER, Calif. — Maddux Sorenson is an offensive lineman for the St. John Bosco Braves enjoying his junior year. Maddux is a third generation offensive lineman (Grandfather Robert played locally at Lakewood High School, class of 67鈥�, and his father Brian, also Lakewood High School, class of 90.鈥� Being blessed with good size (6鈥�4, 290), Maddux wanted to start his own path and set his goals at a young age.
Early on at the age of ten, Maddux was inspired and supported by his youth flag football coach (Coach Rob Fuiava). Noticing good feet and hands for a 鈥渂ig guy鈥濃�� his coach would jokingly say 鈥淵ou are going to play for us one day.鈥�
That youth coach also happened to coach football at a well known high school, aka, St John Bosco. Coach Fuiava would plant the seed for the future. Maddux would continue his young football journey and developed through the Harbor Area Pilots (Wilmington, CA) organization as an adolescent. He was taught the fundamentals and work ethic it would take to make it at the next level with the Pilots.
Maddux eventually enrolled into St John Bosco and committed himself to one of the top programs in the country. He is a hard working , humble athlete, and only gives 100% effort! He has waited for his opportunity, and is enjoying a great 2024-25 season as the left tackle for his team. What makes it more special is that he blocks for the same quarterback (Matai Fuiava) as he did back on that ten year old flag football team that Coach Rob coached.
Well, it sounded odd back then to say these ten year olds would play for Bosco one day鈥� Well, the dream became reality ! A special shout out to Coach Fuiava for the support, guidance, and leadership for all the boys he has blessed during his coaching journey. Maddux has definitely forged his own path, with his strong determination, and more is to come – his family proudly says he鈥檚 the 3rd generation but the best yet !!!! There are a great group of boys over there in Bellflower with many personal 海角社区 that have brought them this far鈥� keep dreaming big, and GO BRAVE NATION !
