Top 10 Pennsylvania HS football players in Class of 2025
2. Zahir Mathis, Edge, Imhotep Institute
Ohio State has recruited a vast amount of talent in recent years and Mathis could soon become one of the Buckeyes’ next defensive stars as he joins a couple of Pennsylvania’s other top senior standouts in Columbus next year. First, he will look to cap a terrific high school career at Imhotep Institute in winning fashion this fall. As a sophomore, Mathis was part of a defense that led the Panthers to a PIAA 5A state championship game appearance. Last season, Mathis and the Panthers returned to the field with a vengeance as Imhotep went a perfect 15-0, capping the year with a state title. The 6-foot-6, 225-pound pass rusher was a big reason why with 52 tackles, five tackles for loss, three sacks and forced a fumble. Mathis’ strength and quickness off the edge will make him an exciting defender to watch again in the Keystone State this fall.
