13. Brent Brennan, Arizona
Arizona will not only enter a new conference in 2024, but it will also begin a new era coaching-wise under Brennan who won a pair of conference championships in seven years at San Jose State, including one last season. The 51-year-old never had more than seven wins in a season with the Spartans though, and even with a talented roster headlined by Noah Fifita and Tetairoa McMillan, it鈥檚 fair to question if Brennan can continue the ascension the program was on under Jedd Fisch.
12. Dave Aranda, Baylor
Aranda has been coaching NCAA football at some level for nearly three decades and enters his fourth season as head coach at Baylor in 2024. In 2021, Aranda led the Bears to a 12-2 Big 12 championship season where they finished fifth in the AP poll. However, Baylor has gone just 9-16 the past two seasons, potentially making 2024 a make-or-break year for the 47-year-old. Aranda has proven capable of winning, but consistency needs to follow at some point.
11. Joey McGuire, Texas Tech
McGuire might be a bit underrated among Big 12 head coaches currently as he has quietly gone 15-11 overall in two seasons at Texas Tech and has kept the Red Raiders above .500 in conference play both years despite some injuries. The 53-year-old, who has plenty of in-state ties from his time coaching high school football in the Lone Star State and as an assistant at Baylor, has proven consistent thus far and gives the Red Raiders plenty of potential to grow going forward.
