Meet Gettysburg Area School District鈥檚 athletic director Kody Godsey
GETTYSBURG, Pa. — Meet Kody Godsey, the athletic director of Gettysburg Area School District (GASD). With an impressive background in education and coaching, Kody brings a wealth of experience to his role. Before joining GASD in December of 2023, he served as the Athletic Director, K-12 PE Teacher, and also taught Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1, and World Cultures at Berks Christian School from 2016 to 2018. During his time there, he also coached the Varsity Boys Basketball team.
Kody then moved on to Dayspring Christian Academy, where he served as the Athletic Director and taught Pre-Algebra and Ancient Civilization from 2018 to 2020. In October of 2020, he took on the role of Athletic Director for both Upper Dauphin Area and Millersburg Area School Districts. During 2015-2016, Kody coached college basketball while he pursued his Masters in Education at Cairn University.
When the opportunity to become an athletic director presented itself, Kody saw it as a perfect fit for his skills and aspirations. Kody firmly believes that sports are an extension of the classroom, offering valuable life lessons and teaching the importance of hard work and dedication. He understands that high school sports can be the pinnacle of an athlete’s career, and he is committed to ensuring that student athletes’ experiences are nothing short of exceptional. Kody’s ultimate goal is to help student athletes reach their full potential and create a positive environment for them to thrive in.
Being an Athletic Director is no ordinary job for Kody. He embraces the ever-changing nature of his profession and finds joy in navigating the challenges and triumphs that come his way. Every day brings something new, and Kody eagerly embraces the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of student athletes. As Kody takes on his role as the Athletic Director at Gettysburg, he is filled with excitement and determination. He is committed to supporting GASD’s athletic department and its teams, and he looks forward to working closely with the community to achieve this goal.
Kody鈥檚 message for the community is that in addition to being , 鈥渆xtremely excited for the opportunity to be the Athletic Director at Gettysburg, one of my goals is to continue to help GASD鈥檚 athletic department and its teams be something that the community can be proud of. I think we have many strong sports programs here in Gettysburg and I want to push to get all of our programs to that same level.鈥�
Kody and his wife, Alyssa, have been married for 6 years and just welcomed our first child in March of 2024. They also have one cat named Winston.
