Meet Leigh baseball player Ollie Obenour
SAN JOSE, Calif. — Ollie Obenour, a current senior at Leigh High School, has a very realistic mindset when it comes to the sport of Baseball. 鈥淏aseball is a game of failure,鈥 Ollie states, 鈥渁nd you will fail more than you succeed in the game.鈥 However, Ollie also know that while anticipating failure is important in baseball, what is more important is letting these failures go and looking towards the next play. It is no doubt this attitude that has aided in Ollie鈥檚 success as a short stop!

Since he was five years old Ollie has played baseball, starting with Union Little League! The competitive nature of the game drew him in at an early age and has kept him playing for the last thirteen years. Ollie also enjoys thinking ahead during games, and he is consistently anticipating the next pitch.
Ollie has encountered many mentors during his baseball career, most notably his own father. 鈥淭he best piece of advice I have received was from my dad,鈥 Ollie recounts. 鈥淗e has coached me since I started playing at age five and he has always told me that there is someone out there who is always working harder than you. This is what pushes me to work hard each and every day in order to get better and master my game.鈥

And all that hard work has paid off! In the fall, Ollie will be playing ball for Washington State, where he will be majoring in sports management. Playing in the MLB is also a life goal of Ollie鈥檚.
When he is not on the field, Ollie can be found spending time with his family and friends, or playing other sports (including football). Congrats on your college career, Ollie! And go Cougs!
