10 most impactful players for the 2024 College World Series
Jac Caglianone, P/1B, Florida
Caglianone has been dubbed the Shohei Ohtani of college baseball as he is a rare two-way talent and his ability at the plate and on the mound will be key for Florida in Omaha. The Gators weren’t expected to get to this point as they were seeded third in the Stillwater regional but were able to defeat Oklahoma State and then earn a couple of close victories over Clemson in the super regionals. The 6-foot-5, 250-pound junior was impressive against the Tigers with a couple of homers and five RBIs. On the season, he has gone 5-2 on the mound with a 4.71 ERA and 82 strikeouts. However, it’s likely Caglianone’s hitting that will be more crucial in Omaha as he has hit .411 on the year – the sixth-best average in the country – and has the second-most home runs in the nation (33) while racking up 97 hits and 203 total bases.
