What are your personal goals within your sport/athletic dreams?
Anneliese Nielson: I plan on going to college and I hope to someday make it to the Olympics if possible.

What is your biggest challenge in your sport, and what do you do to manage this challenge?
Nielson: Being around teammates that don’t put in the same amount of effort. I really want to take my throwing somewhere and it is really hard to be around teammates who are just there for fun and to talk. I just try my hardest to focus on my own work and technique.
What was the best advice you were ever given?
Nielson: Take time off. I tend to overwork myself between lifting and throwing and being told to take a minute for myself is really important.
What do you love about your sport?
Nielson: I love being able to use what I鈥檓 good at and showing others how hard I work.

Do you have a pregame ritual you follow?
Nielson: Before my first throw I step up to the ring, take a knee, and say a prayer.
What do you like to do outside of your sport?
Nielson: I love to sing and cook!

What has being a member of a team taught you?
Nielson: That support is important to everyone. Even if it is just sitting and watching it means a lot to everyone.
What is the best piece of advice you received from a coach or mentor?
Nielson: That track is not the most important thing. We have to work to find a balance between school, family, and sports and sometimes the other things need to come first.
