Q&A with Logan football player Cooper Redd
LOGAN, Utah — A Q&A with Cooper Redd who is a football player at Logan High School.
Age: 18
Sports participated in: Football, Wrestling, Track
Years in the current sport: 4
School: Logan High School
Grade/Year: Senior
What are your personal goals within your sport/athletic dreams?
Cooper Redd: I would really love to play any of the sports I participate in at the next level. I am also hoping to be able to be a good teacher of the sports I was involved in.
What is your biggest challenge in your sport, and what do you do to manage this challenge?
Redd: One of the biggest challenges that I have faced in my sports is having some challenging teammates, the way I manage this is by getting taught that I need to focus on my job and do my 1/11th. I can’t always change the attitude of my teammates. I can try to motivate them but in the end, it is up to them if they want to change and be better.

What was the best advice you were ever given?
Redd: Trust the process. If I trust the process and then do my thing, everything will be good.
What do you love about your sport?
Redd: Something I love about football is the idea of family, I grew so much closer to some of my teammates, and I want to say that my quarterback has been like a big brother to me. The kid is a stud on and off the field. He and I have grown so close, and I wouldn’t change him for the world.
Do you have a pregame ritual you follow?
Redd: I have a playlist that goes in the same order every time I play and it always gets me locked in. While listening to my music I usually have a moment where I sit down and embrace the opportunity to play the sport I love.

What do you like to do outside of your sport?
Redd: Outside of sports, I love to be outside boating, playing spike ball, any outdoor activity. I also like to play board and card games with my family.
What has being a member of a team taught you?
Redd: Life is bigger than we think.
What is the best piece of advice you received from a coach or mentor?
Redd: I just need to do my thing, I put in the work so trust in that work.
Describe a mistake you made while competing and how you overcame it.
Redd: There was one time that I made a catch and I got up and spun the ball on the ground. It cost us a 15-yard penalty and a touchdown. Afterward, I was mad at myself because I didn’t know that was a rule. I felt terrible and was super frustrated with myself. I overcame this by telling my team that this one was on me and it will never happen again. I moved on from the play and didn’t make that mistake again.
“Cooper is a great football player and an even better person. He is extremely driven and wants to be the best in everything that he does. It was a pleasure to coach him.” -Logan High Football Coach, Carson Mind
