Q&A with Ardrey Kell lacrosse player Carolyn Kreppein
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A Q&A with Carolyn Kreppein who is a senior at Ardrey Kell High School and has played lacrosse for 12 years.
What do you love about your sport?
Carolyn Kreppein: I love many things about lacrosse. I love the rush it gives me when I am playing, I love the relationships I have made with my teammates and coaches, and I love that this sport has given me a safe space for me to be myself. It has been an outlet for bad days and always makes me feel better.
What are your personal goals within your sport/athletic dreams?
Kreppein: In lacrosse, I want to have fun and make new friends. I want to have a great team that has great chemistry to win games and make great plays. I am not interested in committing to college, but I would like to play lacrosse at the club/intramural level.
Do you have a pregame ritual you follow?
Kreppein: Before games, I like to listen to music and get excited about the game. I especially like playing music in the locker room for my teammates and getting everyone hyped and ready for the game. I also like to have my friends braid my hair and vice versa.
What do you like to do outside your sport?
Kreppein: When I’m not playing lacrosse, I love to hang out with my friends and family. I am interested in books and movies and love to go to the movie theater. I love getting coffee with my friends and going to concerts.
What has being a member of a team taught you?
Kreppein: Being a member of a team has taught me many things, especially being captain. It has shown me the importance of trust in your teammates, especially in supporting them and having their backs. Another thing it has taught me is leadership. A team needs a leader they can depend on and who is responsible. Being on a team has taught me this along with having fun and not taking everything too seriously.
