Middletown HS unified bocce season a success
MIDDLETOWN, Md. — Middletown High School is proud to be a part of unified sports, connecting Learning for Life students together with their peers. The latest MHS unified bocce season just came to an end.
Coach Colin McCann, said, 鈥淭he season went very well. We had a lot of friendly competition. We ended up winning the district championship, and qualified for the states tournament; we placed 4th at the state tournament.鈥

McCann added, 鈥淢y favorite memory from the season was participating in the polar bear plunge with many of our athletes. It was a great bonding experience and something we hope to do again.鈥 The polar bear plunge is a fundraiser for the Special Olympics of Maryland, where teams jump in the Chesapeake Bay during freezing weather.
Regarding preparation for games, McCann said, 鈥淧ractice was pretty casual; we would have three courts at a time, with two teams on each court, and we would simulate match situations.鈥

The players highlighted they like to have a dance circle to warm up before games. Reese Jankowski, said, 鈥淚t was a lot of fun working with each other, and we pushed each other to do our best, and if there were mistakes, we took the time to learn from them.鈥
鈥淣o other sport on campus has as much fun as learning as many lessons about life and creates so many friendships and rewarding experiences,鈥 McCann said.
