Ranking the 10 greatest Calgary Stampeders of all time
9. Jon Cornish, RB (2007-15)
One of the most productive running backs to dress for the Stampeders, Cornish spent the whole of his nine-year professional gridiron career in Calgary.
He broke the single-season rushing record for a Canadian in back-to-back seasons, going for 1,457 yards in 2012 and 1,813 in 2013. The latter helped earn Cornish the CFL’s Most Outstanding Player award and was the second-highest output in Stamps history to Willie Burden’s 1,896 ground yards in 1975.
Including those two aforementioned efforts, Cornish won the league’s rushing title three years in a row. He won two Grey Cups and was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 2019.
