Andy Enfield leaving; 5 USC basketball head coach candidates
Joe Pasternack
Pasternack has experience as both a Pac-12 assistant coach and a D-I head coach in California, serving as the headman of the UC Santa Barbara Gauchos since 2017. He had success leading the Gauchos, going 148-68 with two Big West regular season titles, two Big West Tournament titles, two NCAA Tournament appearances and the 2021 Big West Coach of the Year award. With experience as an assistant coach both at Arizona and California, Pasternack knows how to recruit the area for high-major talent as well.
The biggest concern for Pasternack would be the jump in competition. While he has proven he can win at the mid-major level, would his resume be enough for such a luxurious job? If USC wants to take a chance on a young, mid-major coach with high upside, Pasternack would be the best bet if they choose to go that route.
