Top 10 players from the East Region of the NCAA Tournament
4. Terrence Shannon Jr., G, Illinois
Another representative of the Big Ten, Shannon has been one of the best scorers in college basketball this season, averaging 23 points, good for third in the nation. He also averages 4.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists over 28 games played with 27 starts. Though a suspension caused him to miss six games, Shannon has come back and proven to be one of the top offensive threats in the nation, leading the Illini to a Big Ten Tournament championship while earning the event鈥檚 most outstanding player, first-team all-conference and third-team AP All-American honors.
With Illinois coming off of a high-major tournament championship and earning the No. 3 seed in the region, expectations are high for the program. However, the team only goes as far as Shannon can lead them so they will need his best effort if they hope to make a deep tournament run.
