High school basketball: Grind Session World Championship tips off in Chicago this weekend
CHICAGO — Some of the nation鈥檚 top high school basketball teams and players will be in Chicago this weekend to battle for the 2024 Grind Session World Championship at Malcolm X College.
The Grind Session is a winter circuit of high school basketball events from late November until early March that consists of elite teams from all over North America. To put into perspective how good this circuit is: over the past 10 years, more than 3,000 players who have competed in The Grind Session have gone on to play collegiate or professional basketball.
Some of the circuit鈥檚 more notable alumni include Jayson Tatum (Boston Celtics), LaMelo Ball (Charlotte Hornets), DeAndre Ayton (Phoenix Suns), Paolo Banchero (Orlando magic), Jalen Green (Houston Rockets), and Jamal Murray (Denver Nuggets), among numerous others.
鈥淭he Grind Session has taken high school basketball to new heights over the past decade, becoming the home and proving ground for the nation’s best prospects and teams,鈥 said Chief Brand Officer Cesar Vizcarrondo. “We’re excited about bringing the final weekend of our season to Chicago and look forward to a truly amazing weekend.”
The Final Four will tip off on Saturday, March 16, and feature 16 of the Top 100 prospects in the country across the 鈥24, 鈥25 and 鈥26 classes, including three of this year鈥檚 McDonald鈥檚 All-Americans, as well as Prolific Prep junior A.J. Dybantsa and Prolific Prep Sophomore Tyran Stokes, the No. 1 overall prospects in their respective classes. Dybantsa is already widely considered to be the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NBA draft.
The Final Four matchups are:
3:00 p.m. 鈥 Prolific Prep (CA) vs. Royal Crown (ON, CAN)
6:30 p.m. 鈥 Dream City Christian (AZ) vs. DME Academy (FL)
The Championship game will be played on Sunday, March 17.
