1. Dalton Wentz, SS, Amherst County
While he may not have the same national attention as Harris, Wentz is certainly around the same level as his adversary. The 6-foot-1, 219-pound shortstop hit .360 with a .522 on-base percentage, .720 slugging percentage and 1.242 OPS with 18 hits, 20 runs scored, 22 RBIs, six doubles and four home runs for his 20-4 Lancers squad last season, leading Amherst County to the VHSL Class 4A state quarterfinals while earning first-team all-state honors. In addition, Wentz was also named an All-American by both PBR and Perfect Game and participated in the Perfect Game All-American home run derby alongside Harris.
Given his All-American status from both recruiting sites, it comes as no surprise that Wentz is highly rated in the state as he ranks second in Virginia’s 2024 class by PBR and third by Perfect Game. He signed with the South Carolina Gamecocks on .
