Meet Cambridge lacrosse player James Davidson
MILTON, Ga. — In the local world of high school sports, where every player’s dream shines brightly, Cambridge High School senior James Davidson stands out. Davidson, 18, has the essence of a true athlete. He is family-oriented, adventurous, and committed to his sport. He is filled with ambition and team spirit.
Davidson has been holding a lacrosse stick for 12 years and his journey is of dedication. He has such enthusiasm for lacrosse, sharing, “I love how fast paced it is, the team aspect, and the relationships you build through the sport.” This isn’t just a game for Davidson; it has been a source of continuous personal growth.

His ambition and goals stretch beyond the grassy fields of Cambridge High School. Davidson dreams big. He has focused his ambition on winning a state championship with Cambridge and later launching his college career at Mercer University.
Davidson has proven his adaptability, having attended Kings Ridge, West Forsyth, and now Cambridge. He has gathered lots of different experiences, shaping him to be versatile and dynamic. Off the field, he enjoys spending time with friends and working out and he may indulge in the occasional rice krispie treat.

On the field he is a point getting powerhouse, gaining a combined 218 points via 105 goals and 113 assists throughout his freshman, sophomore and junior years. Last year, he was on the state championship team and was named MVP after 4 goals and 4 assists in that game alone. His current season is underway and is already off to a great start with 15 goals, 6 assists.
When asked about challenges he has faced through his years playing lacrosse, it was clear his path has had a few, namely the nagging injuries that so often plague athletes. Yet, Davidson approaches these issues head on. “I manage them by doing rehab and specific workout regimens for the intended body part and I stretch a lot,” he shares. He is diligent in taking care of himself to perform his best on the field.

The heart of Davidson’s philosophy on life and lacrosse is simply two words: Carpe Diem. This may be a timeless motto for many, but it surely resonates through James’ actions, urging him to seize each day to improve and to take every opportunity on the field. It’s a principle that aligns perfectly with the best advice he’s ever received: “Be a team player, and things will come your way.” This advice has been a guide for him on and off the field.
James gets focused for each of his games. His pregame ritual includes– compression boots, laser, and stretching on a power plate. At times he’ll have EDM music pulsating in the background, all so that his mind and body synchronize in anticipation to have a peek game performance. James carries onto the field with him the wisdom of his coaches: “Don’t worry about it, next play. Don’t stress about the little things.” This philosophy has helped him to focus and perform.

Davidson’s lacrosse journey is also a story of empathy and good sportsmanship. He recalled an incident where he accidentally collided with an opponent, from which he reflected on the importance of responsibility to care not just for his teammates but of his opponents too. He made it a point to check in on that opposing player after the game. His concern for the injured player post-game speaks volumes as an athlete that values compassion as much as competition.
In James Davidson, we see more than just a lacrosse player; we see a young man who embodies the values of family, ambition, and community. As he takes the next step toward college, he is ready to embrace new challenges and triumphs at Mercer University. One thing is certain, James Davidson is not just playing lacrosse; he’s living a dream, inspiring others, and creating his own legacy that will resonate beyond the lacrosse fields of Cambridge High School.
