Top 10 NCAA softball players entering the 2024 season
1. Valerie Cagle, P/UT, Clemson
Cagle is arguably the most versatile star in college softball and is the reigning USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year and Softball America Player of the Year. Cagle was dominant in the circle for Clemson last year as she went 25-8 with a 1.56 ERA and 188 strikeouts. However, the Tigers star was just as important at the plate for Clemson, hitting .469 – the fourth-best batting average in the country – with 19 home runs, 57 RBIs and a .887 slugging percentage. Cagle and the Tigers were bounced by Oklahoma in last year’s super regionals, but the 5-foot-9 All-American will have the chance to get Clemson back to that point in 2024 while entering the season as a favorite to become a back-to-back national player of the year.
