Ranking the best Big Ten basketball players at midway point
4. Jahmir Young, G, Maryland
Young was tremendous in his first year at Maryland last season and has been even better in 2023-24. The 6-foot-1 senior guard is one of the best pure scorers in the conference, averaging 20.4 points which trails only Purdue big man Zach Edey. Young also averages 4.6 rebounds and 4.2 assists while shooting 43.1% from the field, 35% from deep and an impressive 89.5% from the free-throw line. In addition to his offense, Young gives opposing point guards fits on a nightly basis and puts up 1.5 steals per contest. The Terrapins haven鈥檛 quite had the season some thought they would thus far, but Young and teammate Julian Reese are capable of leading them on a run during the final month-and-a-half of the season.
