Meet Farmington football player Jared Meechan
FARMINGTON, N.M. — Based on votes received from his fellow teammates on the Farmington High School varsity football team, junior Jared Meechan was recently awarded the honor of being named to the Bobby Riddle All-Respect Team. After finishing up a successful year on and off the field, Jared is also to be congratulated on making the All-District Academic Team with a 3.894 grade point average and the All-District 1st Team this year.

Jared is also an active volunteer, making time to contribute to San Juan Rotary Club activities such as Angel Tree for the holiday season and the Healing Field display for Memorial Day.

Jared has been playing football for the past ten years and also enjoys other sports like motocross, wrestling, snowboarding, fishing, and spending time in the gym and with friends. With football developing as his main sports focus over the years, he shares, 鈥淚 like the competition and the challenge of going head-to-head with another player or team. Anyone can be successful in football if they are willing to put the work in.鈥

Next up for Jared is the goal of making the All-Star Game in his upcoming senior year of high school and going on to play at the collegiate level. The mental game is where the biggest challenges lie in advancing sports careers. Jared knows he must remain focused, keep a positive attitude, and have confidence that he can achieve his goals.

Looking forward to one more season of high school football, Jared feels the most important thing is teamwork. 鈥淚t鈥檚 not about the individual. It鈥檚 about the whole unit. Sometimes, you have to put your ego aside and do what鈥檚 best for the team. Teams are the most successful when the players work toward the same goal,鈥 he says. Putting in the work is important to Jared and he has seen the results by focusing on the little things, being consistent, and following through with his commitments.
