Meet Piedra Vista All-American cheerleader Mackenzie Terry
FARMINGTON, N.M. — Piedra Vista senior Mackenzie Terry has been dancing since she was three years old and is on the Piedra Vista Varsity Cheer Team. The cheer team already has their goals set for competing in State together this April, Mackenzie shared, plus she is celebrating an exciting award and trip to London this month.

In July, Mackenzie attended the Varsity Spirit UCA Camp and was selected for the All-American Team. This selection provides her with the opportunity to travel to London and be in the 38th Annual New Year’s Day Parade. The annual parade is an opportunity to perform alongside 10,000 participants with a street-side audience of more than one million people and a TV audience of more than 20 million viewers around the world.

All-American teams from all over the United States will dance and cheer their way past Berkeley Square, Big Ben, Downing Street, Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly Circus, and The Ritz Hotel. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that also includes guided tours of Buckingham Palace, St. Paul’s Cathedral, Westminster Abbey, and much more!

Mackenzie has been refining her skills for years with her dance studio, Ann Marie’s Dance Academy, and her teammates. “The thing I love most is being part of a team with these amazing girls,” she says. Her teams have all had a special connection and shared a team prayer before every performance. Pushing her limits in tumbling, trying new things to continually grow, and keeping a positive attitude are important to Mackenzie.

Mackenzie takes pride in her academic involvement serving as Senior Class President with Piedra Vista’s Student Senate. In addition, she participates in the high school’s yearbook class, being one of the head editors for the last two years. In her spare time, Mackenzie values being surrounded by her family and friends and time spent reading or coloring. “I owe all my thanks to my family and coaches for their support,” Mackenzie adds.
